Uniform and Equipment

Planner

All pupils will be provided with a planner in September. This must be brought to school each day, as it provides a key form of communication between TFS and home. The planner will include a copy of pupil's timetable to support them in finding their way to lessons.

Uniform and Equipment

Our uniform has been chosen with great care. Our priority was to find a uniform that is smart, fit for purpose, economical and easy to care for. Our dress code is practical and allows a choice within very clear boundaries. The dress code applies both within school and on the journey to and from school.

We ask that you and your children take care that they all come to school in the correct uniform and that each item is clean and clearly named.

Uniform Items

All items will be available to purchase online on the Price and Buckland website, visit: www.pbuniform-online.co.uk/turner

Knitwear:

A choice of jumper, cardigan and/or tank top with two blue trim and school logo.

Shirts:

There is a choice of pale blue or white buttoned shirts, these can be fully buttoned or have a revere collar. These can be purchased online at the school uniform shop or at a local supplier/ supermarket.

Trousers:

Smart black or navy trousers. Tailored shorts are available from our suppliers.

Skirt:

Stitch down, pleated tartan skirt.  Please note this must not be rolled up or shortened.

Socks and shoes:

All shoes must be: sensible; plain black. Trousers will sit over them. If a pupil is wearing the wrong footwear, their family will be contacted to bring the correct footwear into school or the pupil will be asked to change into footwear provided by the school.

Socks and tights – pupils can wear ankle or knee length blue or black socks or tights. Please note that over-the-knee socks are not permitted.

Sports Wear:

Trainers can be any colour but they need to be for sport, not a fashion trainer (not Vans, Converse style).

Pupils will also need to wear shin pads and a mouthguard for their hockey lessons and in other sports as required. These can be purchased in store or online from many outlets. Pupils are not permitted to wear tights under their skorts/shorts, but may wear plain black/navy leggings without logos underneath.

Lost Property

When pupils come to TFS, we do request that all their possessions, including clothing, should be named, in order to facilitate the returning of found articles. All lost property is stored in labelled boxes in the Heart Space. Pupils are advised to check here first if they lose an item.

Named items are returned to pupils via their Coaches; it will clearly help us to return items to their owners much more readily if everything is named. Please, therefore, ensure that all of your child’s clothing and personal belongings are named. Items that are not named are placed in Lost Property. These are held until the end of term at which point any unclaimed property will be disposed of.

Hair

Hair should be of a natural colour and style, without shavings or patterns. Pupils must have a natural hairline with no undercutting or fashion styles. A pupil may be asked to tie back hair for health and safety reasons e.g. in Science/PE. Hair bands should be of one simple colour. No other hair accessories are necessary. Eyebrows should be natural, with no modifications or shavings.

Equipment Checklist

Pupils are expected to have a school bag and pencil case containing:

Mobile Phones and Smart Technology

Mobile phones are not to be used at any point at school. This includes break and lunch.

If you feel that your child needs one for the journey to and from TFS, then the phone must remain switched off and out of sight, in his or her locker/bag throughout the school day.

Any pupil found using a mobile phone during the day will have the phone confiscated and held securely by the Pastoral Leader. It will be returned following a conversation with a parent. Repeated phone use may lead to an on site phone ban.

iPods, MP3 players and Smart Watches are not required in school. Any pupil who brings one into school should keep it switched off and leave it in their locker. TFS accepts no responsibility for the safety or security of the above equipment.
